Mission
To provide an aesthetically pleasing, self-sustaining, and educational venue for the community to learn about Pollinators and the habitat needed to thrive.
Tucked away at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds, just beyond the entrance gates, is a pit stop for birds, bees, butterflies, bats, and thousands of other pollinating insects to dine, rest, multiply, and carry on the crucial role of pollinating plants; plants that provide human, as well as animal, sustainability. The phenomenon of pollination has existed for millions of years, creating a bond between humans, insects, and animals that is essential for the food chain to function.
The SisQ Bee Club has chosen to reach above and beyond their beloved bees and encompass all pollinators by building a native/non-native arena to help provide pollen, nectar, shelter, nesting sites, and education to the local community about this important cause. The extensive project began in 2024 with overwhelming community support and volunteer time. From debris removal, leveling, adding compost, installing irrigation lines, to fundraising, research, grant writing, planting, and mulching, the Team was determined to be ready for the August fair. And they were!
In 2025, partnerships were formed with the Yreka Elementary Schools, and the first and very successful educational class was held in May. Siskiyou Plumbing in Yreka sponsored the SisQ Bee Club fair booth, and in appreciation, the Club planted a beautiful pollinator garden in front of their shop. The garden needed a permanent sign and were lucky to find Nowedesha Metals in Montague, who donated their labor and materials to build a beautiful metal entry sign. The Club is eternally grateful to all of these businesses, and to the many people and other local businesses whose support made this fantastic project possible!
Behind the scenes is a dedicated and spirited group of beekeepers and their families who recognize and believe that their investment is worthwhile and will have a big payoff in the future — and it will.
Thank you to everyone!
